The rod to own and use if you truly want to master the amazing Ned Rig. The rod is designed specifically to cast the light Ned Rig, feel the lite bite and then to fight the fish without bending the hook or breaking the light line. If you are not throwing a Ned Rig, you are not enjoying fishing to the fullest.

On the banks of the North Fork River, behind Gary's lodge is a new blank factory in Woodland, WA properly named North Fork Composites Inc., Trey Kistler and Gary Loomis (not G.Loomis) worked together again to find an answer to the need for high performance fishing rods at a value unheard of in the industry today. After pots of coffee and cokes, Trey and Gary worked together to design a rod blank that matches unparalleled sensitivity, lightness and strength. Out of Gary's North Fork Composites production comes a blank that has Kistler's signature 'raw carbon' look that provides the sensitivity you've come to equate with the Kistler name. And because it is made here in America you know it's going to be a dependable rod for years.

With the foundation of an American Made Hybrid T800 Modulus blank, adding top quality components and Kistler innovations make the KLX a rod that has to be experienced to be believed. And of course it is built right here in Magnolia TX by Kistler's certified rod technicians.

When you look at your new KLX rod you will immediately notice very little fanfare in the way of fancy colored wraps, or paid endorsements signed on the shaft. Instead, the American Flag, and the very best rod we could possibly build for the money.

Pride in building the very best for our customers. It's the foundation of the Kistler values. So you can say - ..'Fishing NEVER Felt SO Good!'

  1. Surprisingly powerful! Review by Callyn

Purchased this rod as a do it all light finesse rod. I can definitely say it has exceeded all expectations. Definitely throws a ned rig but it also is an excellent dropshot rod. I have caught Lake Erie smallmouth up to 4lbs and this rod has more than enough backbone. Pair it with a 1000 size spinning reel and it makes a combo that is hard to put down! (Posted on 6/22/18)

  2. Near perfect power finesse rod Review by Trevor

I purchased this rod in a casting version. I was a bit hesitant on buying this rod but it has exceeded my expectations. It can do so much more than just Ned rig fishing. I have been using it for weightless plastics, small hard baits, finesse jigs, and drop shots. The rod tip is light enough to get long distance casts and keep fish buttoned on, and yet has lots of backbone to Handle the big ones. If you're looking for a rod thats finesse yet powerful then look no further. (Posted on 2/14/17)

  3. Amazing! Review by Wes

As a lover of the Ned Rig technique, I was looking for a rod that could really hone the sensitivity level needed for detecting the bite. This is that rod! I've thrown it using multiple other techniques as well (i.e. dropshot, small senkos, ultra finesse jigs, etc), and it is by far the most sensitive and capable rod I have used with these ultra finesse techniques. The 7' length and soft tip allows for great casting distances with these light-weight lures, and I have had a lot of fun using it so far! (Posted on 1/4/17)

  4. Awesome for river smallmouth Review by Mike

I purchased this rod not for the Ned rig technique but with the express intent to use it for slinging spoons and spinners for smallmouth in my local river system. It didn't disappoint! The sensitivity was fantastic even with mono and the forgiving tip kept them buttoned up which increased my landing ratio significantly. I'm a believer in this series for sure! (Posted on 8/28/16)
