On the banks of the North Fork River, behind Gary's lodge is a new blank factory in Woodland, WA properly named North Fork Composites Inc., Trey Kistler and Gary Loomis (not G.Loomis) worked together again to find an answer to the need for high performance fishing rods at a value unheard of in the industry today. After pots of coffee and cokes, Trey and Gary worked together to design a rod blank that matches unparalleled sensitivity, lightness and strength. Out of Gary's North Fork Composites production comes a blank that has Kistler's signature 'raw carbon' look that provides the sensitivity you've come to equate with the Kistler name. And because it is made here in America you know it's going to be a dependable rod for years.

With the foundation of Gary's Next Generation IM Intermediate Modulus blank, adding top quality components and Kistler innovations make the KLX a rod that has to be experienced to be believed. And of course it is built right here in the good ol' USA by Kistler's certified rod technicians.

When you look at your new KLX rod you will immediately notice very little fanfare in the way of fancy colored wraps, or paid endorsements signed on the shaft. Instead, the American Flag, and the very best rod we could possibly build for the money.

Pride in building the very best for our customers. It's the foundation of the Kistler values. So you can say - ..'Fishing NEVER Felt SO Good!'

I purchased this rod as a frog rod and absolutely love it. It hauls the fish out of the thick stuff with no problems and keeps the fish locked on. The other day I blew up my swim jig reel somehow and used this frog set up in its place. Needless to say it turned out to be just what i was looking for in a swim jig rod and ill be ordering another one very soon. (Posted on 1/27/17)

  4. Looking for a heavy cover rod look no further! Review by Joseph

This was my first purchase when I made the switch to Kistler rods. This rod is extremely light and well balanced for being a heavy cover flipping and pitching rod. I find that after using this rod all day that I'm not as fatigued at the end of the day as I was when I was using other brands. The real benefit to this rod is the way it keeps big fish hooked up in heavy cover and the way it moves them out of cover. I've never had a rod where it controls big 4-5lb class fish in heavy milfoil beds like the Klx does. It excels in all heavy cover situations! (Posted on 1/2/17)

This rod can handle just about all my flip/pitch needs, even down to 3/8 jigs and 1/4 oz tungsten. Extremely sensitive, has just the right amount of tip to let the fish inhale the bait and plenty of backbone to get em in the boat. I've also successfully used this rod for bigger swimbaits, frogs, and heavy Carolina rigs and football jigs (Posted on 9/1/16)

This rod can truely do alot. I have used it for froggin in the real think stuff, but I LOVE this rod for flipping in all aspects. Doesn't matter if I am pitching to a laydown or punching a mat. You can use a 1/4 to 1 oz and still feel everything. This rod is the best It's so sensitive you can feel the fish breath on your bait. When you are on a flipping pattern and keep this rod in your hand all day you will never get tired it is so light, but yet has a great back bone to get monster Largemouth and Smallmouth out of the thickest cover. This is by far my favorite flipping rod. I use it to flip grass with 3/4oz texas rigged plastics. It has the backbone to pull big fish out of the grass and the right tip to make sure you don't rip the bait out of their mouth. I switched to this rod after having problems with another brand losing fish. this is exactly what I was looking for. (Posted on 12/18/14)
