On the banks of the North Fork River, behind Gary's lodge is a new blank factory in Woodland, WA properly named North Fork Composites Inc., Trey Kistler and Gary Loomis (not G.Loomis) worked together again to find an answer to the need for high performance fishing rods at a value unheard of in the industry today. After pots of coffee and cokes, Trey and Gary worked together to design a rod blank that matches unparalleled sensitivity, lightness and strength. Out of Gary's North Fork Composites production comes a blank that has Kistler's signature 'raw carbon' look that provides the sensitivity you've come to equate with the Kistler name. And because it is made here in America you know it's going to be a dependable rod for years.

With the foundation of Gary's Next Generation IM Intermediate Modulus blank, adding top quality components and Kistler innovations make the KLX a rod that has to be experienced to be believed. And of course it is built right here in the good ol' USA by Kistler's certified rod technicians.

When you look at your new KLX rod you will immediately notice very little fanfare in the way of fancy colored wraps, or paid endorsements signed on the shaft. Instead, the American Flag, and the very best rod we could possibly build for the money.

Pride in building the very best for our customers. It's the foundation of the Kistler values. So you can say - ..'Fishing NEVER Felt SO Good!'

  1. Great all-around rod Review by PETE

These KLX rods are awesome, so light and sensitive, well-made and durable, I'm crazy rough on my rods and I've never broke one, haven't even damaged any tips reeling down on hung lures. This is a great model to stock up on, plenty of power but not overly heavy, basically like a medium heavy rod with a little more beef down the butt section. Can use for almost anything! Excels at dragging, pitching, and frogging! (Posted on 11/28/16)

But I use this one almost exclusively as my worm rod. Our waters don't have the heavy cover that calls for a 5H or 6XH power worm rod. This 4H has plenty of power to horse 12" to 20" LMB out of the pondweed and other small to medium macrophytes found here in our Nebraska waters. I chose this model because it can cast lighter baits farther too. The tip allows it to load up nicely and send those lighter frogs and toads flying. It's a fun rod to fish frogs with! i have 2 of these rods. But for me they are to light for good hook setting on worms. They need a fast tip. (Posted on 1/14/15)
