Annual Word from Trey Kistler, President of Kistler Custom Fishing Rods.
Dear Fellow Angler,
Ten years ago I told my wife that I was going to start a fishing rod company. She was just as uncertain about this idea as I was, but for the first time in my life, I would be able to stay home and work, so we took the plunge. My decision to start Kistler Rods was made after my father had decided to retire from his position as President of Castaway Graphite Rods to seek different opportunities.
My wife and I did not have a clue as to how to run a business, but we did know how to work hard. My prior six years’ experience working for my father at Castaway and All-Star Rods was just enough to get me going in the right direction. Everything afterwards basically consisted of trial and error, along with blood, sweat and tears while I began my education at the College of Hard Knocks. I would not suggest that anyone take the courses I chose. However, I would encourage everyone to have a dream and believe that anything is possible with God.
It is hard to believe, ten years later, my father Billy is now working with me here in my offices at Kistler Rods. All I can say to our current customers, friends and future customers is this: “Get ready, because our rods have turned out to be even better because of his involvement!” It is amazing to see my dream become a reality as we have now reached our company’s 10th Year Anniversary.
With our loyal customers, friends and family standing right beside us through the good and the bad, we are again positioned to create a really big difference in our industry. To be honest and perhaps, with a little modesty, you might have noticed the impact Kistler Rods has already made on the design changes of so many other rod manufacturers over the last three years. While I am flattered to see so many companies copying our innovations, it truly drives me to continue to separate ourselves from the competition more and more each year by once again leading the rod industry.
For this reason we have again made the decision to bring the angler something very special in the form of a fishing rod. To start with, this year you will notice several advancements such as our proprietary “Dura-Matrix” TM and “Intel-a-Matrix” TM technology which will now offer the world’s toughest, lightest most sensitive graphite blank designs ever created.
My father and I have spent the last year engineering, testing and perfecting the most revolutionary changes in a rod since my last project was unveiled in 2005. Before that, so many anglers had fallen in love with our Helium LTA rods from 2003. Even more anglers have appreciated our Magnesium rods that were introduced shortly thereafter in 2004.
Since we introduced the Helium 2 LTX in 2005, we realized that we had gained a great deal of attention when so many anglers reported catching bigger fish in greater numbers. This kind of feedback drives us to continue to strive harder, look deeper, work longer and dream bigger for the ultimate goal of keeping our customer on top of his or her sport.
New for 2009 we have introduced two more new rod lines that are sure to excite anyone who loves to fish. The Argon Series and the Carbon STEEL Series are both a must have rod which we are very proud to offer finally after months of extensive field testing. Don’t forget to take a look at the re-engineered Helium LTA and Helium 2 LTX rods as well.
None of this would be possible without the loving faithfulness of our God in heaven. The hope I have in His Son, Jesus Christ, gives me the strength, courage and will to trust Him and His plan for my life. Nothing else really matters in life more than how I try to honor God by pleasing others such as my family, friends, employees, customers and other business associates. Everything else just falls into place. Just like Jesus said in the book of Matthew 6:33: “Seek first His kingdom and everything else will be added.” If we can’t believe His words and the other words in God’s Playbook, I ask you, who and what can we believe?
I encourage you place your hope in Christ and give your life to God. Trust Him to provide the answers to the questions you have in life by asking Him to help. He is like a good father who is ready and eager to help his son or daughter with anything they ask of Him.
