Is there any problem with storing Kistler rods in the boat in the garage in the Arizona heat during the summer? I heard someone say that they called G Loomis and the company does not recommend this, that it could warp rods. It gets around 107-108 on average during the summer here and on occasion up to 115-116. It's usually cooler in the garage than outside. What does not make sense to me is this... if you can't keep your rods in the garage because they may warp in the heat then shouldn't you not even fish in the summer. It seems hotter out on the lake when your rods are in direct sunlight for hours.

The facts are that high heat can and will affect many different rods in a bad way, no matter the brand.

I would make sure your rods are straight when you decide to store them. They can warp and stay warped.

The problems are minimal but you still need to take precautions.

Good Luck,

Trey

The difference is, when you're out on the water, your rods are out in open air and while the super high temps can still have an affect on all your gear, the movement of your boat in the open air mitigates some of this affect.

In the garage or in your rod locker, there is no ventilation and the high temperatures have a more negative effect. Think about it, would you rather be outside in 100+ degrees or stuck inside with the doors and windows closed with no air conditioning? Wink
