should i get a med heavy or heavy kistler for fishing tex rigs and jigs in cover? are the heavy act rods as stiff as other rods

they arent as stiff as others, but they are better. i would go with the heavy

I use the HE76HC for flipping to heavy cover unless it's matted grass, with which I use the XTRA Heavy. The 7'6" rod gives you a little more tip action with all the backbone you need to horse 'em out when you need to!!!

I too would highly recommend the 7', 6" Heavy Helium. Not stiff at all IMO but very effective for pitchin' jigs and casting small swimbaits. My PB, a 9-even ( - - blocked - - ) on that rod after she grabbed a Matt's Baby Bass swimbait.
