drop shot rod

should i wait till the z-bone rods come out or what is your best spinning-rod what i want is a 6-9 drop shot rod that is a full handle not a split grip dont like them. have been a st croix rod user for 30 years would like to try another brand. and what it your take on the micro guides thanks kb

If you want the best and you need a full handle, then hold off until we launch the Z bone rods soon. I definitely would suggest the micro guides all the way!

I own the 2010 MacMag70mhc with Micro guides and have been using it now for a couple of months. I find that the guides actually help in longer cast. They don't tend to get hung up in the rod box which usally ended up in damaging the guides. When I get snagged on the bottom. I don't get line wrap from all the bow snapping that I do to get it to release from the snag. On conventional guides I got that a lot usually on the 2nd or 3rd guide.

I have to agree with Trey about the Z Bone rod. They are amazing rods and the micro eyes are amazing. I was blown away at how small they are and how much lighter they make the rod.

I have had the chance to get out on the water with my Z-Bone ST MH 7ft Spinning and I would say you should definetly wait for the Z-Bone. I love my Kistler He2MS69 for Drop Shotting, but the Z-Bone takes it to a whole new level. I drop shotted several decent fish this past weekend on famed Lake Castaic here is SoCal.

Normally I Drop Shot on a medium action rod but I have found the Z-Bone Medium Heavy to my liking for my little bit larger drop shot and maybe targeting a little larger fish or a bit heavier cover, rip rap, docks, brush piles. Places where you want to pull the fish out from. I am seriously itching to get my hands on a medium action Z-Bone to see what I can do with that.

The Z-Bones are just a totally differernt feel and its something to behold. Hope that helps, drop another post if you have more questions.
