Kistler out of my league?

Hi guys,

New here so bear with me. I don't really know the technical terms for different types of rods and reels. Been fishing since I was in elementary school.

I mainly fish for stripers, hyrbrids and catfish. Basic putting on a shade or stink bait, dropping the line or casting it out and letting it sit.

I've used $20 rods up to the nice onces from All Star and Team Daiwa in the past. Th reels I've been using are the ones with holes going from large to small, not the same sized ones. Same with reels too, but only "spinning" reels.

What kind of equipment would I be looking for? There's many different names for different types of rods and reels, its a bit confusing. Any websites that explain all the technical terms?

Now to why I posted here. Would a Kistler rod give me any advantange for what I do? If so then what? They cost like 2x more than my previous top dollar rods.

Welcome to the forum. I understand where you are coming from. Buying a higher caliber product is hard to do at first. But, after you try a truly higher quality product and realize how much better its performance can be, you will understand why so many other s have been using those high end products.

If you can save up and treat yourself to a nice rod, I bet you would notice the big difference in your success on the water with any fish.

Welcome Dien to the Kistler family even if it takes a while for you to get one.

I have Bass fished off and on for over 30 years. I discovered Kistler's Heliums while reading [-- login to view link --] . That's all it took for me to order my first Helium(HE70MC) sight-unseen. I caught 8 Bass with a 1/2 oz buzzbait that first day with my new rod and I immediately ordered my second one.

I think of it this way. All the money I spent on other high-end rods including a few custom-made ones could have been saved if I had been able to buy the best sooner. I try to buy the best in anything I buy because in the long run, it saves me money. I've got a dozen or more rods I'll never use again.

I hope you do get one and then I know you'll be satisfied and not get a case of "buyer's remorse" that can follow a purchase of something that's just not exactly what you wanted or needed.

Well the thing is, money isn't an issue.

But there is a law of diminishing returns. Plus I'm not even familiar with allt he types of rods listed: casting, spinning, crank bait and etc.

Walk into Best Buy and take a look at their car stereo equipment, my stuff costs 5-10x as much as their most expensive items. I buy it because I enjoy quality sound and can hear and appreciate the difference.

Just not sure if Kistler fits into my application...

Yes a Helium is worth every penny...If you are a guy that likes to have the best of the best and the lightest and most senestive rods out there then yes I would shop no more. If you want to send me an email and I will help you out on what rods to pick for you application....

If money isn't an issue than you should seriously consider Kistler rods. They are the best out there, bar none. They fish better than rods costing twice as much.
