A quick story about what has become a life long addiction--- I was about nine years old and fishing in afarm pond in Ky.( where i had to sneak in, because there were "no fishing" signs everywhere). I was catching bluegill as fast as I could drag them out. I was reeling in a small bluegill when something with a mouth as big as a milk bucket ( - - blocked - - ) up and took it!!! It scared me at first but then I caught another bluegill and dangled it around in the moss with the hook thru the tail and in a little while it ( - - blocked - - ) back. I landed this one and heade to the house. On the way home I stopped by a local guys house and he told me it was a "big mouth bass". I had never heard of it. He said to come with him the next morning and he would show me something. Before daylight the next morning we were sneaking into the same pond, and when we got there he handed me a plastic worm(purple creme worm) and told me the big mouth would eat it. I thought it was a joke until he caught one first cast!!! We spent nearly the whole day and a severe case of chiggers catching big mouth bass. Now, forty years later, I'm still in debt chasing ol' bucket mouth!

Great Story!

I too was hooked on fishing after landing two 3 pounds bass back to back on my own new lure, the green jitter bug. With my first Zebco rod and reel combo, I woke up early at the age of 7 or so and headed down to the neighborhood lake. Fishing in the drizzling rain, I found the love of my life. Very Happy

That is of course until I met my high school sweetheart. Yeah, I married her later on, after plenty of fishing with my buddies. Wink

Now, 12 years later, I have the time to get out and chase my first love again. All for the sake of research and development... And for fun too. Razz

I just read a story of a boy from Kentucky and his first experience with a "big mouth bass". What a wonderful story!!!! In reading this story and knowing this story for the first time, I could see the little boy from Kentucky full of excitment and the passion that would live with him forever. This story wanted me to teach my 2 grandson's and 2 granddaughter's that not only boys/men could have a passion for fishin', but so could girl's/women. So, thanks goes to this little boy from Kentucky for sharing his passion not only with others, but with me because this little boy from Kentucky is now "my" Kentucky Hillbilly Boy and I now have had my first experience with a "big mouth bass" that weighed the large sum of maybe 1 lb., but felt like 10 to me and what excitment I felt!!! Now, when he goes fishin' with someone besides me I'm alittle jealous, but I totally support his passion. Yes, maybe he spends too much at times (especially when he's directed to a new site--thank you sdesign Crying or Very sad and Clifford for supporting him too Crying or Very sad ) but, as long as he's happy he will continue to have my support !!!
