I am looking for a dedicated flippin stick'. I have plenty of 7' rods and want something 7'6" or longer with lots of backbone to flip jigs and plastic in the 1/2 oz to 1 oz range. I would like to spend no more than $200.
I have looked at several different rods, but am considering the Magnesium 7"8" All day flipping stick and the 7'6" Flippin' rod special.
The All day flipping stick is A heavy, and the Flippin' Special is Xheavy. In my mind I want the Xheavy, but looking at the specs these rods are rated the same. So my questions are:
Is the All day flipping stick heavy enough to do what I want with it? Will it stand up to all out hook sets in heavy cover? Is there something better suited for what I want?
Thanks,
Mark

the Mg All Day Flipping stick is a great all purpose flipping stick. It is not too stiff and heavy for really accurate casts. I love the fast tip on it. Out of all of my Kistler flipping rods it seems to be the best balanced rod for me. If you flip more 3/8 to 1/2 baits the Mg would be your rod, but if your constantly throwing the 1oz. jigs i think i would go with the extra heavy helium. If you throw a lot of everything, buy both!

I have both of these and they both are great rods- you will not go wrong with either of the two. both rods have a sot enough tip for precise casting yet have enough backbone to haul out the largest fish out of the nastiest slop you can think of. The magesium is a tad lighter than the graphite plus, but both rods would be fine.
