Jig n' Toad Special 7' Heavy vs. HE7H

I"m looking for a rod that sounds almost exactly like the Magnesium. Jig n Toad Rod. I recently got a HE69APC and really like the feel of it. Should I stay with the Helium series for Jig/Toad application and go with a 7H or is the Magnesium more suited for the application. Any sensitivity or net weight difference in the rods.

I'm limted to 7ft rods in my rod locker and don't fish extremely heavy cover like is found in Florida. I'd rather have a more versitle rod then a ball bat made to pull 10lbrs out of weed beds given that I fish mostly open water.

P.S. Plan to fish 30 to 40lb power pro braid on the rod.

Another good rod you might look in to is the Graphite Plus Frog and Slop Rod. I don't use it, but I know a guy that swears by that rod for pitching jigs, carolina rigging, and of course froggin'. Of course it won't be as light as the Heliums or Magnesiums, but its a good alternative, if those are some of the techniques you are going to use the rod for.

I have the 7' Jig and Toad and as far as application it is definitly for heavy cover. I bought it throw softplastic buzzbaits mainly. If it lacks anything I would say that it needs a little more length. You will not go wrong with either this rod or the graphite frog and slop.

Sandman- Any idea what your Jig and Toad weighs?

I've got a 6oz rod I use for frogs now but it wears me out casting it all day and does not walk the dog very well. I was hoping the Jig and Toad to be much less weight.

THe 7'3 graphite series is an option but creates storeage issues for me in my boat. I guess I could keep it on deck all the time.

The MgJTH70 Jig/Toad rod is as light and the Helium LTA He70HC around 4 ounces. Super nice stick at a great price. Great tip action and perfect for all day use without the fatigue. It will work great for many applications in and around heavy cover but it is not too stiff for open water usage.

I have both the LTA 7' Heavy and the Jig-n-toad.. I love using my jig-n-toad rod for flipping 1/2oz jigs and full size brush hogs. The LTA is a little better for Frogs, but like the LTA for flipping lighter stuff. U cant go wrong with either rod but you need to get both.

I actually use a 7'6" Heavy action Helium for toads. The action is perfect and that extra length lets you cast a mile.
As far as a Magnesium, the 7'MH would be what I'd recomend. The heavy actions are a little to stiff for toads if you ask me, especially when using braid.

I just haven't used it as much as I thought I was going to when I bought it. It's an excellent rod for it's intended applications, and then some...
