which spinnerbait rod

Hi,

I'm about to buy my first set of Kistler rods
Now I'm a bit concerned about the strength of the my originally intended spinnerbait stick (6'6"MH): I'll mainly throw 3/8 & 1/2 oz baits but also wanna burn an occasional 3/4 oz single willow for late summer hot weather fish. Is the 6'6" too lite for that (esp. hook setting) so I should opt for the 6'9" ?
Anybody already used both or one of theses rods ?

Hey Sebastian, I personally like a 6'9" the best for largemouth, but will throw a He70MC when burning spinnerbaits, especially with smallmouths because of the softer tip. The other great thing about the 6'9" rod is that you can use it for many different applications.

Yeah - the softer tip is stuff for inspiration...

But my concerns were mainly about the weight and drag of heavier than 1/2oz spinnerbaits.
I think I'll stick with the 6'6" because of better casting accuracy. I suppose it'll be the better starting point and if I want more there are enough graphitic reasons here to upgrade...


Furthermore thoughts and suggestions are welcomed anyway.

The only real difference in the two rods is 3 inches on the butt end of the rod. If you are doing more target casting, the shorter rod will perform better. If you are going to use the rod more for long casting the longer rod will perform better.

Both will handle the bigger baits while burning because they both are a MH power.
