3/11/07 8:32am Rod choice for pitching soft plastics/jigs
I spend 60% of my time on the water pitching creature baits/jigs short distances. Lure weight is normally 3/8-5/8 ounce and water depth in the 3-8ft range. I would like opinions on a rod in the 6'8"-7' length range best suited for this style of fishing.
Thank you
Larry

Jack,
I use the 7' Helium LTA in a heavy power for pitching soft plastics and jigs around docks, grass lines, etc. This rod would be an excellent choice for the lure weights you are using.

That would be the HE70HC and it is a really great rod.

The MgSWMH70 Senko-Worm Special is a great pitchin'n rod. It's rated for 12-20 lb line and up to 5/8 oz baits. I have two set ups with this rod, one with 50lb braid for thick grass and tulies, and the other with 14lb flourocarbon for those spooky clear water bass here out west.

Thanks for all the suggestions! If a guy wanted to save some money and of course sacrifice some sensitivity...Would the KJPS610 jig & pig rod in the Graphite Plus line be a good rod?
