I am going to be ordering a LTA soon. One of the first things I will be doing with it is taking it on a trip. Has anyone used the shipping tubes they come in as the way to check it in as bagage on an airline?

The airlines we have used in the past have allowed us to check rod tubes made of PVC in as a piece of luggage. You shouldn't have any problems at all. I would call to make sure though before making a reservation.

Thanks Trey. One of the things I am worried about is the airline opening the tube to see what is inside, and then not closing is correctly. Did you use duct tape or something like that so they could peel if off and put it back on? Since I haven't ordered the rod yet I'm not sure how you seal the ends when you ship them.

Zelmo,
You can go to any home center and buy a screw on end piece and cap for any size PVC pipe. This has allowed me to let inspectors check inside the PVC pipe.
