Hey everybody, nice site I may add. Purchased my first rod this winter that I use for pulling spinners/livebait rigs and small crankbaits for walleyes in Minnesota and Canada.

Anyways when the rod has flex applied to 3/5 of the rod there is a slight rattle. I checked every guide and the all seem in place. I am wandering if something about 3/5 of the way up the rod is rubbing against something. The rod is under warranty, it functions perfect, and frankly I dont mind the rattle just wandering if anyone else has heard this problem, or if I have reason to be concerned.

thanks

I have a He70MLC and don't remember a "rattle" but I seem to remember a clicking or popping sound around the middle guide when I first got it and when the you loaded it. I asked Trey about it and I believe he said it was the expoy around the guide feet. I think he said they don't use an acetone to "cut" the excess and because of that you'll get the "clicking" or "popping" sound from it stretching but it won't affect the rod. If that is not a description of what you hear then I would ask Trey about it.

Thanks for the quick posts gentlemen, the term rattle is not precise. Clicking would be better. When I lightly shake the rod there is no rattle. When the rod is flexed as described I hear a noise, I pinpointed that noise with my ear. Chavez, I think you may have something there as I bet that's what it is.

Guys,

Chavez is correct. Sometimes on the more flexible rods, you will hear a clicking sound coming from the guide because the epoxy is in a very solid form. We decided a long time ago not to thin the epoxy out with acetone which changes the qualities of the epoxy's life.

If it bothers you, then feel free to send it back for a refund. We want you to be a satisfied customer.

Thanks,
Trey

I just checked mine again this weekend when I visited the swamp pond. I remember specifying the "Southern version" and mine play's DIXIE! Smile

Trey- I love that rod, no way am I gonna return it. It's my go to rod, just a little worried about her after that clicking. It's all good now though. Cool

Four more days till I am back at the Lake, my home Lake is Lake Vermilion in Minnesota, anyone ever fished it?? From the looks of it you guys are based in Texas, and a lot of guys from California on here. Bass guys if I am allowed to assume. I am a Walleye guy, but we have a lot of smallmouth where I fish, as well as a growing Largemouth population, and I love those sportfish a lot, and have only begun targeting them with success just recently.

Gotta go eat some lunch later guys !!!!

Oh, and thanks!
