Just picked up my first He2MC70 for wading and drifting the bays and it is incredible! I will have to admit I had my doubts about the grip under wet/wading conditions and considered staying with my proven Helium LTA's, but all that was answered the first time a big trout loaded the rod up behind the pass. Hands were wet and had no problem with the grip and what a feel to this rod. I have paired it up with a Shimano Chronarch MG 50 and what a perfect mate it is. If you are going to to fish serious you might as well fish with the best and in my opinion, Kistler has the best rods out there for any application. You saltwater guys need to take a good look at these rods. They are so sensitive you can feel the tide change! E-mail me or contact Trey or Clifford at Kistler if you have any questions regarding saltwater applications. They can answer any questions you might have. If you have any doubt just put one in your hands and it will be all over but the fishin'. Besides - You can't catch what you can't feel!

All for now - Gotta work for gas money for the boat so I can get back out there. Good fishin' - "Just Keep Five!".

Unless I am reading this wrong, Kistler has these rods listed as freshwater...why is that? Is there a corrosion or material compatibility issue? The He2M69 seems like it would be a perfect rod for working plastics with light jigheads or flutter hooks if these rods are salt capable...are they or aren't they?

All of our rods are saltwater compatible. We have not taken the time to set them up on the site in their own catagory under inshore rods. This does not mean that you can not use it in salty conditions.

The guides are stainless steel and do need washing after use but should last forever if taken care of. I suggest taking any new rod and rubbing it down with a car wax before using. This will keep the salt from penetrating the expoxy and getting to the steel guide foot where rust can occur.

I would recommend the He2 rods for everyone who wads fishes. I tested this rod myself and it is the best handle design for wet, cold and slimy hands.
