5/18/05 2:52pm 5/18/05--Matt's cow pond--1 Bass |

I fished for 4 hours with just two 'nips', not a bite really. I couldn't find them where they were(next to the dam--this is the cow-pond) last time. They had the pump pumping water out of the pond for the dairy cattle there so the water level was lower than before too.
Bright sunshine, high 80's, off-n-on wind, murky-green water with almost zero clarity didn't help either. Since we've got a front moving in and the full moon is Sun., I thought I might be able to tear them up but no such luck.
I was pitchin' a full-size Paca Craw(Kusami Dynamite color) which was what worked for a Bass or two last weekend; rigged with a 1/2oz Gambler screw-in Rattlin' weight, and a 4/0 Sugoi hook. I'd thrown a small Paca Craw, two different Senkos, a new swimbait, a spinnerbait, and a C-rig with a Robo Zipper worm on it but none drew a true strike except the PC.
I was at one corner of the dam where I'd fished earlier. Pitched the PC into about 3' of water and felt a pick-up. Set the hook and fought a very strong 2lb, 11oz Bass back to the boat.

I tried to get a close-up of the bait in that last one but it didn't come out clearly enough...
