I read a lot of opinions about HE9APC, maybe because it's the most versatile rod but I want to buy a finesse rod and I'm interested in this model. It would be to throw small minnows, strecth 40 yamamoto grubs weightless and texas finesse worms....What do you think about?

Thanks from Spain.

Hi Rigoletto,

Welcome to the forum!! ... I have the He70MC and I think a slightly shorter version of this rod, like the He66MC you're asking about, would work fine for finesse tactics. In fact, I think the rod is probably even stout enough to handle slightly heavier presentations like small spinnerbaits and cranks if you want.

Let us know how it works out for you!

Welcome Rigoletto! I think I remember posting about the Heliums and this site for you over on BPS right?

I would get the 7 foot Medium Caster(HE70MC). I have 3 of them and they will cast lighter baits a long way---with a quality reel like a Daiwa TDZ. It should have no problem with 1/4oz baits although their [-- login to view link --] Medium Light Caster might be better for the really light baits?

I have the He70MLC and while I think it's suited for worming presentations where you're drop shotting, I'm not so sure it'd be my first pick grubs and minnow type baits. It has parabolic action that makes it a little difficult to set hook on more traditional worm and grub presentations.

If you are seeking the maximum casting distance and leverage, then I'd take Lightninrod's suggestion and go with the He70MC. Otherwise, as to your original inquiry, I think the He66MC should suit you quite well.

Thanks folks! The unique difference that I've seen between He66MC and He70MC is that the second rod has a moderate-fast action while fast action the other. Then He70MC would have a better soft cast...and it's very interesting for me too. I'll think in all this...

The big problem in Spain, Shops order to Usa and the prices are very diferents. The helium is here about 300$ and tdz about 420$... When do you go to visit me? hahaha, because you come with 2 or 3 tdz in usa prices and I invite you a week in Spain...hahaha. It would be well...

In the last year, VanDam, Iaconelli, Jhon Murray, Byron Velvick, Swindle and others were in Spain. VanDam won the Caspe bass(the best championship of Europe) with Mark Curry. Iaconelli make 8th in Latin Cup...

In August of present year, it will be the world bass championship between USAvsEurope like Ryder's cup(golf)...here in Spain. Its fantastic altough it wasn't the Classic...

Bye

Rigoletto,

Wow... those are some big price differences indeed. I've been to Barcelona several years back. Loved the country. We even took a train out to the coast to stay for a day or two. Had the absolute most delicious dinner in Spain at a Spanish/French restaurant. Great stuff.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be making it out there again anytime soon.
