Just wanting to get your opinion.

Don't really have an opinion on this one but I was wondering what about a spinning rod for cranking? I currently use the old 6' lightning rods because of thier soft tip but I have worn these out (cheap reel seats). Would love to have the Kistler cranking rods in a spinning rig!!

If I'm going to use it, it will have to be a baitcasting rod but that's just me .

out here in CA. dropshotting is the #1 technique on our deeper reservoirs. i started out using a baitcast but quickly went to spinning simply because its mor of a finnese type set-up and if you use your graphs to locate structure and fish its much easier to drop the bait straight down in deeper water with a spinning reel. try it with baitcast and your gonna meet MR. frustration reel fast. It'll take forever to pull off 30-50 feet of line. My 2 cents.
