I would recomend a medium or medium light power rod for using small to medium sized crankbaits. It will have plenty of power to set the hook without ripping the small trebles out of the fishes mouth and the tip is light enough for long and accurate casts. The length is a personal issue. I like longer rods so I would use a 7 footer because of the added casting distance it allows me to achieve.
