1/30/07 1:16pm Best LTA casting rod for Redfish? |
|
|
|
I just bought one of the new Shimano Curado 100D's for use on redfish on the Floroida Gulf coast. I usually throw DOA shrimp, 1/4 oz spoons and tails in really shallow water. I use 10# PowerPro. I'm looking at 6 1/2 to 7' with either ML or M power. Any suggestions?

If you want a rod that has plenty of forgiveness and a very soft tip, then go with the ML.
If you want a rod that has a fast but flexible tip with plenty of power in the backbone, then go with the Med.
Both spinning or casting perform the same in eithe the 6'6" or 7' lengths.
Now listen up, if you want the cats meow, in a casting rod, with the best of both the above rods mentioned in one rod, then call us and ask for the new 2007 Light and Fast Inshore Trout specials. This is a factory exclusive right now because it's so new to the market.
Thanks,

Tell me more. Is this an LTA? Length? Is the action between the M and ML?

This model is a 2007 Helium LTA blank design. It has a very soft and extra fast tip with a very strong backbone when compared to the 2006 He70MLC.
We also make it in the 6'6" length as well.
If you don't need a soft tip, don't get this rod. Most Trophy Trout hunters love this rod, I haven't had many redfish hunters comment on it yet.
Help this helps a little more,

I use a few different Helium LTA Rods for Reds in Florida. I have 7'M casting and spinning rods and they are perfect for your DOA Shrimp and 1/4oz spoons. they are also just right for 1/8oz jigs, small to medium topwaters and unweighted soft plastic jerk-baits. I've pulled many upper and over-slot reds away from the mangroves with these rods.
For slightly heavier lures like 1/4-1/2oz jigs, soft plastic jerk baits with a weighted hook or jig head, topwaters, spinnerbaits, etc. I use a 7' MH spinning rod. For pitching under docks and mangroves I use a 6 1/2' MH spinning rod.
I use 10# Braid for almost everything.
Hope this helps
