6/16/06 12:50pm Rod for Soft Plastics & Jigs |

The Reply from sdesign made me think I may have given too much information originally so Iíve edited out some of it. As I already have a flipping stick which I'm not currently trying to replace.
I'm looking into your LTA's and Mag rods. 99% of the time I fish from a kickboat I mostly fish in all the Northern California lakes from Folsom lake to Lake Shasta, plus I fish the California Delta. I'm looking for one that would be good for Soft Plastics, Jigs, and tubes that I would not use on my finesse spinning rod a rod that I could cast and use for weightless worms, t-rigs, c-rigs for. Iím wondering whether I should be looking at something with a medium action instead of a medium-heavy. And hopefully will be a good rod for Largemouth, Spotts, and smallmouth. In the LTA and Mag rods which should I look at.
Here are the 3 rods I've been wondering about:
1. MgAPSMH69 6'9" 10-17 1/4 oz - 3/4 oz MH (All Purpose)
2. MgSWMH70 7'0" 12-20 1/8 oz - 5/8 oz MH (Senco Special)
3. He70MHC 7'0" 1 12-20 1/4 - 3/4 MH (All Purpose)
Thing is I'm not really looking for a all purpose rod I'm looking for a rod to dedicate to the things listed above.

CF,
I'd suggest the He76MHC or the He76HC....
The He76HC is reviewed here:

If you don't want the longer rod that sde recommended(because of your boat?), then I'd highly recommend #3. I have not used any Mags so I can't help with them but I do have 7 LTA Heliums and I'd recommend them in general and that one specifically.

Hello Crossfisher,
I would also recommend the He7MH. It is an excellent rod for soft plastics/tubes, finesse jigs and carolina rigs. I do believe that you should go with a MH rod for these applications rather than a medium.
Good fishing,
Demetrius
