I live in Maryland and fish the upper end of the Chesapeake Bay where besides bass, we have strippers (rock fish as we call them) also. They are catch and release ONLY until June 1( I think). A couple of weeks ago a guy was out stripper fishing and caught 3 very nice fish which he put in his ice chest. He launched out of the local state park like many anglers. He returned, loaded his boat back on his trailer, got it out of the water, strapped down and ready for the ride home when the DNR police showed up. They had "unmarked boats" out on the water and he was spotted not releasing his catch. They took his truck, boat, and the fine is $1000 per fish. I like the part where they let him do all the work to get his boat loaded before they took it. Another reason for catch and release.

John
