Welcome to Kistler's forums TB.

I havn't had that happen with any of my heavier rods. Several years ago(before I got my Heliums), I had some Fireline braid snap in two on a long cast with a Medium Fenwick rod but it was the line's fault. Another reason why I use fluro almost exclusively and use no braid.

Theres not really that much pressure on the line itself during the hookset. You can actually hold a hook in your hand and someone set the hook and you can hold it with two fingers. I think the main reason line breaks happen on hooksets is because of poor knot strength, or sometimes a big fish that gets the bait down deep and the line gets cut on the roof of there mouth. But I wouldnt be afraid to use heavy rods at all I hardly use anything less that a medium heavy action.

LOL! That is what I thought. There's no such thing as heavy rod breaking lines. It's based on knot ties.
