I just ordered a Helium 70MHC. I hope that it ends up working well for what I want it to but if it doesnĖt than that is an excuse to get another rod Laughing I am going to use it for weightless senkos in some grass and around some docks and after talking to Clifford that is what he said he recommends so I will try it out and see, I know I wonĖt be disappointed with such a great company and such a variety of rods

SDFD, Congrats and welcome to the Kistler Family!!! Smile

Funny... i thought you had one by now. I have that rod and caught my first fish with it last Saturday throwing a lipless crank. It is my fourth favorite Helium behind the He76HC, He69APC, and He70MC. Absolutely no trouble with backbone on that rod, I can tell you that much! For an MHC, it's very powerful. You're gonna love it!

No i had been talking about getting one for a little while now but finially decided to go ahead and get it. Now i have to find a reel to get. I thought about gettign a Team Daiwa X air metal but i am not sure i may just get a TDX super tuned.

Are you stuck on Daiwa? Because the Scorpion MG would fit on that rod very nicely!! Or... you might want to consider the new Daiwa Alpha!!

Well I have been using Daiwa for 15+ years and I have had no problems at all. I may spring out and get a TD Z. I have heard that is a sweet set up also. Are you talking about the new Alphas, I have looked at it but I would like a 6.3 reel and it is a 5.8. But otherwise I would get it. Also I like the Daiwa magnetic brake set on the side of the reel you change it with just a simple click.

WTG sdfd!! I prefer the MC for Senkos so let us know how the HC work's out. You may find it better for pitchin' jigs?

I have a couple of TDZ's on my He70MC's and they make a wonderful package that weighs less than 11 ounces. A Shimano Antares AR reel would fit mighty nicely on that He70HC Cool .

SDFD, if the TD-Z is within your budget, I'd say go for it man... those are mighty fine reels!

Well it kinda is in my budget, just do i want to spend 350. on it or not Laughing once the rod gets here i will put a TdX on it and see how it feels and then decide what reel to get.

Well LR i thought about the 70MC for teh senko rod but i talked to cliffforsd and he said for the cover i would be around to get the MH so thta is what i got. I have been using a mh for my senkos in the past and it has worked great so that is why i got it. I can always use another rod if i don't like that setup. Laughing

SDFD, unless you're stuck on a 7 footer, the He69APC is also a really nice Senko rod... it has the tip of the He70MC but the backbone of the He70MHC... a lethal combo. The actual difference from reel seat to tip is only ~1.5" from a seven footer. The other 1.5" difference is in the handle. Just for your future info. Wink

So was it a good choice or a bad choice to get the 70MH?
TTCal

SDFD, Impossible to make a bad choice with any Helium LTA and it all comes down to personal preference. I like a slighlty softer tip when fishing the Senko so that i can cast it more easily and feel the hits - but that's me. If the weeds are a concern, and it sounds like they are, the He70MHC will suit you very well and it is also probably better suite for carolina rigging than the other two rods Dan and I were talking about.

You can also throw lipless cranks with the He70MHC very effectively not to mention buzz baits and heavier spinnerbaits (1/2 oz or more), so don't worry, you're going to get your use out of that rod. Just be prepared to come home and order a bunch more after your first trip just like most of us here did!

Yeah i will have to start saving now to order some more rods. Another reason i ordered it because the grass is start to come back finially and there is alot of rocky bottom that i fish so clifford said that would be better rod to suit me. Also have you tried throwing flukes with this rod?

SDFD,

Sorry... can't help you with the flukes... those haven't made it into my arsenal yet Smile

Wow I am surprised that you haven't tried them. Here in Tennessee we are killing them right now on the flukes when we can find them schooling and sometimes just around the docks.
