Trying to decide on a Crankin rod

I'm looking at the 7' composite cranker, but I'm wondering if it has enough tip to launch a Fat Free Shad or DD22's. These baits are about an ounce in weight and the composie is rated up to 3/4oz. Also, how about the sensativity and power while working the deep divers. Other rods I've considered are the: Team Daiwa LT cranking rod (rated 3/16-1 1/2oz), Kistler Crankbait Special(not composite), and a Kistler 7' or 7'6" Snook Special (is this rod too stiff?). Besides the excellent service I've had with a 6'6" Team Daiwa LT(10 years now) all my other rods are Kistler's most of them say Castaway (when Kistler's owned them).

I have the crankbait composite and love it. However, with the big cranks I use the HE70MHC. Call me crazy as a bunch of you will, but it's got the tip, the back bone and the sensitivity. That rod also works extremely well with traps in the grass on Rayburn. I know sdesign and the others are going to say the HE70MC 0r the HE76MC is the way to go, but they don't fish East Texas either!!! HAHA Just my thoughts.

If you are fishing around open water, the KCBS7 will work perfectly.

If you are going to be fishing around vegetation, step up to a Med-Heavy powered rod.

The new Mgcomposites are not really designed for the one ounce lures but most of our other rods that are rated as a med-heavy will work great for you.

Thanks for the comment about the Kistler made Castaway rods. I really take pride in the production of those earlier Castaways.

Yeah, I'll be fishing around hydrilla quite a bit (Rayburn and T-Bend). I thinking about the 7' Snook Special now for a deep crank rod and a 7' composite for smaller cranks.

Your welcome Trey for the compliments about your Castaway rods. As use can tell they have served me well, I won most of them when I worked at the Academy in Conroe back in my college days (92-95). Besides a 6'9" APC Helium and my one Team Daiwa LT, all my other rods are original Castaways (9 fresh and salt water rods.) Thanks again for excellent service and products they will keep me as Kistler rod user.

That Snook Special has a great tip action on it for the grass you want to fish around. You'll be happy with it and the Composite speaks for itself when fishing small cranks.
