Updated, please see comments below Smile

I just ordered an Argon AFCB69C. Despite having nearly a dozen quality rods, this will be my first "dedicated" crankbait rod. What expectations should I have for it, and for which techniques and baits will it excel?

Among the rods it will compliment are an AFF611S and a 2009 He2MH69C.

Thanks

I've got my new AFCB69C. It's so light it is hard to believe that it is rated to 3/4 oz Smile We'll see Smile It feels fantastic with a Chronarch 51Mg.

Anyhow, since this is my first dedicated crankbait rod, I probably need to lose some of my poor hooksetting habits. What hooksetting techiques do you recommend for smaller and shallow crankbaits. I may also try it for topwaters and smaller jerkbaits. Thanks

Leon

That is one fine rod indeed. I would recommend watching the 2010 Bassmaster Classic again and see how KVD and Ike handled their fish on cranks and traps. This ought to explain it very well. IMO, you don't want to hit the fish quick and hard like you would when fishing a worm or jig...just the opposite. You'll find more bass making it to your net if handled with patience but very sharp hooks are a must!
