With the introduction of Florida Strain Largemouth Bass some 10 years ago or more, the California Delta, reportedly, has grown into one of the premeire bass waters in the nation. Here are some photo's illustrating my re-discovery of these waters and my bass fishing hobby this year.

Very nice. Near which city is this delta?

Hi Chavez,

I believe the city that is talked about most in reference to the California Delta, is Stockton. However, with over 1000 miles of waterway, the Delta stretches across, by and through a lot of different towns.

To give you an idea, here are couple of images:

here's a map showing just the waterway... the CA Delta is the confluence of the San Joaquin and Sacramento rivers just before they empty into SF Bay.

here's a map showing the freeways in and around the Delta... As you can see, the water dumps directly into the San Francisco Bay. All the narrow river and creek arms to the right of the Bay is the Delta

There is definetly something special about the California Delta. It is an amazing fishery and not just for bass, but many different fish including stripers. It sure is fun to be cranking along a weedline and have a giant striper just crush the bait and take off down river or throwing a spook for'em. I love the delta, its just a great place to fish granted it has kicked my butt many of times, but thats what keeps me going back, the fish and the river are constantly changing so you have to be constantly figuering them out, there always changing places especially with our tides switching every six hours. There are lots of giants in the delta just a couple of weeks ago a kid in a tourney I was in brought in a 13-4, just an awesome delta bass. Lots of big fish get caught out here.

CZ It is by far my favorite place to fish. I can always put fish in the boat no matter what time of year. By far one of the best Bass fisheries in the country
