Hey guys nothing like pre-spawn fishing mid May up in nothern Vermont and I'm not talking about Champlain either. Actually Lake Memphremagog in Newport VT on the border of Canada. Lake is around 25miles long with only around 6 or so on the VT side. The Canadien side isn't open till mid June I believe so all my fishing was on the VT side. Also there's plenty of smaller bodies of water with 30-45min or so of Newport that hold plenty of big smallies and huge lake and rainbow trout.

Also its all catch and release once ice out up till mid June as well to protect the big females. All my fish were caught in around 8-15ft of water all week, jerkbaits or 4" soft jerbait on a 1/8oz ball head were the only tools needed for the job. Had 2 LuckyCraft Pointers break on my as well, one Pointer 100 and a new Slender Pointer, even the 3lb smallies felt like 5+.

Getting a replica made up of my 6.7 redeye. Can't wait.
Very Happy

That's awesome man, congrats. Any smallie over 5 or 6 certainly deserves a replica.
