9/14/09 4:24pm guides on helium lta or ltx Reply with quote

I have 2 Helium LTA and one LTX and have never had any problems with those two. All of my problems are with the Magnesiums gides plus the glue or the way they are wrapped. It may be that it gets so hot where I live in the summer that the glue must soften and the whole eye, especially the tip comes completely off. Still Love all the rods and will not let something this small influence me when purchasing rods!

Thanks Bradley Enfinger

I have owned at least 40 Kistler rods and have never had an issue with the blue inserts coming out. Hands down the best rod on the market.

I just got through fishing a tournament where I had an eye fall out of my Kistler composite kcbs66 rod. It wasn't too devistating. I just popped it back in and kept fishing. I had one fall out of my jig and pig kjps610 rod tip. I just ordered a fuji rod tip repair kit and fixed it two months ago.

I have not had a problem with the inserts coming out. I have had a problem with the rods breaking in general. I have broken a Magnesium and a Helium II in the past year. A little disapointed in the warranty. I think if I pay $350 for a rod it should be backed better. When I bought the rod, I was told it had a lifetime warranty. I thought as long as I owned the rod, they would replace it for $50. Did not know that I could buy a new one after one year at a reducede price. I do not go to the lake that often, and if I break rods foing once a month, I can't imagine what happens to the rods of guys who fish often.

I have been using Kistler Rods since 2004. I never ever had a guide issue. As far as opinion, I like the Fuji SIC best. I am also looking forward to using the "Custom Shop" to design my own Kistler rods. I think I have a few good ideas for some specialty rods, like a glass spinning rod for ripping, and a super finesse spinning rod for tossing micro shad baits. TL

Man, I have been using there rods since the beginning it feels like. I think it was 2001-2002 or so. If I recall i had 3 line guide issues over that entire time (Not Bad). 2 of them where tip guides and the other a main guide. Both rods I believe were 2004-2005 LTA's.

I would never change in a million years and hope this economy gets better for all of us and the Kistler family so that we can enjoy the better things to come!

I had 2 guides come out of Heliums and I am not really sure why. I put a little glue on them and I have not had any trouble. The rods are great.

Thanks

I have a few with the blue rings popping out. I normally just epoxy them back in place and they are as good as new. I know that my rods bounce around a lot in my rod locker, so I always assumed it was from that.

Thank you all for posting and/or taking the poll. After much research and surveys done over the last year, we have found the blue ringed guides used on some 2008 and earlier Helium LTA rods are not performing to a high enough standard, so I would like to make you guys an offer you can't refuse. We would like to pull these guides off of your rods in order to outfit you with a product that performs up to our high standards. I decided to this after reading a passage in the bible I'd like to share.
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." - Phillipians 2:3-4

I believe if we do 'what is right' in God's eyes, he will bless us. I trust you will agree.

Kistler Rods would like to stand behind the components used on our blanks even though the previous guide manufacturer used has refused to accept responsibility for defective products. It was my mistake for trying to be different in the industry while supporting a US based company and remaining loyal instead of sticking with the best in the business, FUJI.

If you have a 2008 year model or earlier Helium LTA rod with the blue inserts that have fallen out of the frame, you are in luck. I will be happy to replace ALL your guides and tip, no matter how old or well used your rod might be if you will help us cover a nominal cost due to the extensive labor involved. After my rod technicians carefully strip away the old wraps/epoxy/guides, they will then rewrap your rod with a brand new set of FUJI ALCONITE conventional guides. If you just want us to fix one or two guides, we will be happy to replace these for free as a service to you. We'll have your rod performing better than ever and shipped back out to you in 4-8 weeks. Please let us know your requested date for return and we will do our best to get your rods back asap. Below is the breakdown on how to calculate the cost if you are interested taking advantage of this offer.
• Ex1. You have one rod that needs guides replaced:
1 x $25 = $25 + $20 return shipping = Total $45
• Ex2. You have two rods that need guides replaced:
2 x $25 = $50 + $20 return shipping = Total $70
Include a check or money order along with a NOTE explaining your requested preferences. Place both inside a envelope, taped to your rod inside the disposable container. Then package up your rod carefully and don't forget to insure it for the full replacement value. Ship it prepaid to our factory address found at the bottom of our web site. . Offer expires 12-31-09 or discontinued at our discretion.

Get your rods shipped to us as soon as possible and we will begin the process of upgrading so next season, you'll be fishing with more confidence than ever before.
