Hi,
I am not sure which rod to purchase,a 6'9" MH Magnesium or a 7' crankbait rod. I do not own a crankbait rod but I use soft plastics religously SO.........which one?

If yopu do not throw crankbaits then I would get the 6'9" med/hvy for sure.

I agree with the other replies. While longer poles will give you more distance and keep your crank bait in the strike zone longer. A shorter pole will allow you to get into tighter areas like around docks and over hanging limbs. For longer Strike zones I recommend the Magnesium TS 7' rod by kistler. It has excellant rod action for those suddle bites. They really let you feel the bottom and that is always a plus.

don't get a medium powered rod if you love to fish with worms and such. You can throw a crankbait just fine with a 6'9" MH, just loosen the drag a bit. have fun!

i would recommend the he70mhc. it is the most versitile rod i own. its probably not designed to fish crankbaits, but i do throw them on it when im ripping the bait out of the grass. it works great for plastics, finesse jigs, rattle traps, and its my favorite all around spinnerbait rod.

I would personally go with the MH due to the fact that you are mainly using soft plastics. The 7' crankin rod is made for crankbaits and will give you too much flex when you are casting or setting the hook. The 7' Mag. is my favorite crankin rod and I have used every crankin rod imaginable. If you are not fishing crankbaits you are missing out on some of the most violent strikes imaginable. Good Luck you will love either rod but pick the one suited best for the technique you are looking for.
