I was fishing with my dad out on the California delta a month or so ago and we were having a decent day. We had caught a few fish throwing crankbaits, but then got on a decent senko bite. As the day went on we had got a bunch of senko fish, but it had started to slow down as the tide changed in the spot we were fishing. I was kind of sleeping on the job and not really focusing on what I was doing when my line jumped. Since I was daydreaming I wasn't really holding onto my rod real well, but when I saw the line jump I set the hook like I normally would. Well the hook stuck in the fish but I didn't hold onto my rod so it went flying into the water. I often fish in just some athletic shorts and t shirt with sandals cause its so hot, so without hesitation I dove in after my rod and actually had to swim a few feet to grab it which was going down fast, and moving towards deeper water. Once I got the rod in my hand, I realized I still had the fish so I got the rod tip up and reeled in the slack while treading water. I was able to get the fish in near me, but it was freaking out, I'm surprised it didn't have a heart attack with my big butt jumping in after it. My dad ended up grabbing the rod and flipping the fish in the boat and helping me in. Here is a picture of me and my fish and my Kistler that the fish tried to steal.

Great story CZ and great fish! Maybe I'll see you out there sometime in the Delta. I'll look for a float tuber without the tube!! Twisted Evil

Rod diving! Huh? It could become a new sport among serious fishermen. I have had my share of diving in after a lost rod and reel. No luck yet like CZ. Great Story!
