I was fortunate enough to be invited by Kistler to go on a rod testing trip last Friday. I was told not to bring my rods, just my reels. Trey handed me some rods to put my reels on and at first couldn't even tell there were guides on the rod. My initial thought was "is he playing a joke on me". When i figured out that these were what I was going to be fishing with I was thinking there is no way I am going to get a good cast with this thing, but I was there to test rods. My first cast was smoooooth and got a little more distance out of it. I couldn't believe it! Also, with these new guides it takes a 1/4 - 1/2 ounce of weight off the rod. That's a lot of weight when your casting all day long. That's the weight of a rattle trap or crankbait. I think these Micro Guides help focus the line energy. You don't have the line flopping around between the guides causing resistance. Although I must say that I had my doubts when I first picked up this rod, but I am officially a firm believer in this new design!

Got a chance to try out a couple of the new Magnesium 7 footers with the new Microguides this weekend. I was very impressed. Cast great, ultra sensitive. You can really feel the difference in weight. What really sold me is the no tangles. Fished all day with a Baby Minus 1. Normally the trebles catch the line every so often and you have to free it up to make a cast. Never happened once all day. I'm sending my flippin sticks in for new guides right now! Also when you put your rods up in your Skeeter, you can now put two rods in a tube with no issues.

Only negative is that you have to concentrate to run your line thru the quides. They are definately Micro.

Try them out, I think you will like them

I agree bigmikey with my experience so far with my two 7'. You can tell the difference in weight from the other Magnesium rods for sure but the no tangle/no mess all day fishing in a tournament was huge in my mind. I was skeptical about the casting distance ect... but was pleased and impressed. Great rods Trey!
