5/25/09 9:45pm 2008 HE66MC & HE70MC rod weight...? |
|
|
|
Hello,
A friend of mine is about to buy a Medium rod of the 2008 Helium LTA series. Weight is very important to him, and he asked me to post this question on this forum.
Does anyone know what is the weight of these rods? I have a HE70MHC and weight is around 5 oz. I assume the weight in the medium-powered rods, and specially in the 6'6'' is lighter, but I'd like to know the exact (or approximate) weight...
Thanks,

I would really appreciate any information you can give me regarding weight of these rods. I have ordered myself a He66MC and it will arrive in a few days.
My friend however, is deciding between a Shimano Crucial Drop Shot 6'6'm or either a 2008 He66MC or a 2008 He70MC. Apparently the shimano weights 3.6oz but we haven't been able to locate the weight for the LTAs.
Thanks,

We don't have records of the 2008 LTAs but the closest I can remember them weighing was around 4 ounces. It is really hard to compare apples to oranges on the weight issue because of so many factors that make up a blanks action, power and components. Hope this helps you out a little.

Thanks, Trey. I convinced my friend to buy the LTA anyway! I don't care much about ounces difference but the quality in the components and manufacture which is much better in Kistler. Thanks,

This is just sick!
Today I weighted my new 2007 LTA HE66MC (they're on sale here in Mexico so they're really at Magnesium prices) and the rod weights only 2.9 ounces!
I am just delighted with this rod. I have heavier-action LTAs so I'm completely amazed at the lightness and balance of the rod. I especially like the shorter handle for working surface baits. Paired with a curado 200e it weights only 10.5 oz!!
Unbelievable!
My friend will be so happy he didn't ordered the shimano...
Thanks for a great product. I can't wait to try it!

2.9 ounces? You need to check your scale. That can't be right. I've never heard of a 6'6" rod weighing that little.

Seymour.
You're right. The 2.9 oz weight was on my electronic fishing scale (I was wrong by 0.3 oz). Today I brought some rods with me to the lab (I am a biologist) and weighted them on a 0.001g-precision scale.
The exact weights of some of my Kistler rods are (from lighter to heavier):
Helium LTA 6'6''M 2007 (HE66MC), 92.7g or 3.2 oz
Magnesium drop shot special 2008 (MgDSFWML69S), 99.8g or 3.5 oz
Magnesium Carolina Special 2008 (MgMWCRH70), 119.2g or 4.2 oz
Graphite + crankbait composite (KCBS7), 119.7g or 4.2 oz
Argon Heavy Spinnerbait (AFSB611C), 141.5g or 4.9 oz
Helium LTA 7'MH 2008 (HE70MHC), 150.7 g or 5.3 oz
I am still happy because a 0.3 oz difference is very small, and much happier because it means that my fish are 10% heavier than I thought! I instantly broke my 11lb 11oz record...
