5/25/09 7:14pm West Bay Trout On Original Helium LTA
Every fisherman has their "go-to" rod. The one you fish the most.
My original 6'5" medium light Helium LTA is still going strong after five or six years of hard saltwater fishing.
It started off it's life as a 6'6", but lost the tip to an errant cast by a fishing partner. LOL
Two years ago I had the folks at Kistler strip and replaced all the guides, and it's still going strong.
I've been hitting some solid specks fishing grass beds and sand pockets early with small bone Super Spook Jr.s.
Below is a healthy six pounder from yesterday, released.
The surf has also finally gotten right (flat and green) and the early wade fishing with topwaters and 51 Mirrolures has produced limits for the last several days.
Leaving Wednesday for Port O'Connor to start pre-fishing for the big "Tails & Tunes" tournament Saturday. There will be over 110 teams and live Texas music Friday and Saturday. Roger Creager is headlining Saturday night. Ought to be a blast!
We'll see if I can finish in the money......

Great trout! Topwater trout fishing is a blast especially when you are catching big ones. Good luck this weekend. Let us know how you do.
