I just got a new (2009 model) MGHCFS68. The problem I have is my Daiwa Advantage reel will not fit in the seat. The seat will not open wide enough. I have 7 older Kistlers that I use these reels on with no problem. The older seats will let you unscrew the hood all the way, the new stops when you get to the end of the threads. Does anybody have any suggestions? I can cut the foot on the reel, but I would rather not.

Sorry to hear about this rare happening. If you can't force the hood over the end of the screw, then allow us to replace your rod with another. I checked our current stock and none had this issue. Let us know if we can take care of it for you. I don't think the issue is your reel.

Had a similar issue when I got my new rods last year. I found that I just had to use a bit more pressure to the point where it felt I was forcing it open past the threads. I ended up getting all my reels on nice and snug.

You are exactly correct. If you can't budge it by hand try covering the hood with a thick piece of cloth before using pliers or any other tools and you shouldn't have any problems.

I used a towel and channel locks and got it to open up. All it well, thanks for you help.
