4/14/09 3:32pm Kistler Finesse Casting Rod!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there,
I have been using a couple of different Kistler rods for my casting finesse rods. If you could afford the extra cash, I would pick up the He2MC66 or the He2MC70. These are by far the most sensitive and lightest rods you can get your hands on today. I pair mine with a Team Daiwa Pixy reel's, which weigh in at 5oz., together spooled with 5lb fluorcarbon the combo almost is weightless. Last year at an FLW tournament at Lake Mead, NV these rods were instrumental in getting me a check.
If money is a problem check out the LTA's, I use the HeMC70 in this series for my finesse worms, and finesse jigs this rod is also an excellent choice. Hope this helps, tight lines.
I wrote this up for another thread. I throw a lot of spot remover shakey heads on these rods with huge success. Tight Lines.

Rob,
I am thinking of going with the He70MS assuming that equivalent to the HeMC70, just the spinning rod version right?
This is my first "step up" into a cutom rod. My gear today is all rod/reel combos from the local sports store. I plan to use this for shakey head and Texas rig worms. Is that a good start?
What reel whould you guys suggest?
thanks

Hello There,
Well as far as I can see this would make a really good choice, but you may also want to consider the Magnesium TS series. These rods are at an unbelievalbe price point and you could get into one of these for 170 dollars plus shipping, this would leave you with plenty of cash for that reel. I say this because your taking a huge step up from sporting good combo's to finely crafted rods, and these rods would be a great stepping up rod. I currently have and use about 12 of these rods and I love them. For a spinning rod shakey head I really recomend the MgDSFWML69S, this is the Kistler Mg series finesse drop shot, shaky head special, I love this rod, and it would serve you well, it's ultra sensitive and very light.
For another option would be the Kistler Argon Series, I have been fishing the AFF611S for a couple of months and this rod has started to become my go to drop shot rod/shakey head rod. I like this rod because it has all kinds of backbone, and its very light and sensitive as well. The one thing about this rod its a lot more stout than the other rods you were looking at, and I wouldnt recommend it for 6 lbs test line, 8 lbs works great on this rod. I just used it up on the Columbia River for the FLW National Gaurd Western Series, and it boated many fat smallies and got me a pay check.
As far as reels, I love my Team Daiwa's, a 2000 series reel would be perfect for the Mg series, a 2500 series would suit the other options very well. In the price range your looking at I recommend the the TD Pro series availble at Bass Pro, they are great reels with a great price. Well I hope that helps, if you have any more questions please feel free to drop another post. Tight Lines.

Rob,
Looking at BPS the TD Pro looks like a BPS exclusive and is on clearance for $100. Guessing you would tell me to hop all over that?
