For years I only bought BPS brand rods that were on sale, because I could spend the money I saved on other tackle. A few years ago I finally broke ...

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but have enjoyed reading all your comments. I will be ordering a full line of Kistler rods soon and would appreciate any input that you could give me. Most of the rods will be Heliums so keep that in mind also I live in smallmouth country and use alot of 7 footers. I am buying a
crankbait rod 7'
spinnerbait rod 7'
flippin rod 7'6"
worm rod 6'6"
topwater rod 6'6"
buzzbait rod 6'9"
fluke rod 6'6" - 6'9"
tube rod 7' (spinning)

Also I don't care for handles any shorter than 9" (personal preference)

Welcome to our 'family'.

For every technique but "flipping" and the spinning rod, I'd get the HE70MC. I have four of them and use them for all those techniques. I believe their handles are 9.5" but an extra 1/2" shouldn't be a problem? Wink That model is my all-round favorite for everything but pitchin'/flippin', swimbaits, and C-riggin'.

Thanks Dan, that was definitely on my list, is there a big diference in the wait of the KFS76compared to the Helium76.

Welcome to the forum! My only experience is with the Helium line of rods, and all my Helium rods are 7' or over, so all my recommendations are based on that:

crankbait rod 7' - He70MLC : He76MC (actually a 7'6" rod but a real nice cranking stick)

spinnerbait rod 7' - He70MC

flippin rod 7'6" - He76HC

worm rod 6'6" - He70MLC (finesse) : He70MC (Tx rig) : He76MHC (Carolina)

topwater rod 6'6" - hmmm... i actually don't have a Helium for this Confused

buzzbait rod 6'9" - I use my He76HC for this Smile

fluke rod 6'6" - 6'9" - I don't fish flukes much

tube rod 7' (spinning) - I'd recommend using the He70MLC or He70MC coupled with a baitcasting reel that can handle light line and lighter lures.

hmm, if you could wait till summer I've been told that Kistler will be launching a series of rods aimed for the smallie fisherman. Many different lengths and action not seen with other Kistler rods.

That being said I fishing for smallies 95% of the time. I currently have 2 Kistlers, He69APC(senkos) and KCBCM7(crankbaits). The rest of my rods are mostly soft glass rods for jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater. I need to pick up a med/lite spinning rod for my dropshot/hair jigs.

crankbait rod 7' -KCBCM7/also 7ft custom glass
spinnerbait rod 7'-glass
flippin rod 7'6" -don't have one yet
worm rod 6'6"
topwater rod 6'6" -glass
buzzbait rod 6'9" -glass
fluke rod 6'6" - 6'9"-He69APC(Senko)
tube rod 7' (spinning)-Process of buying
