I just received my first Kistler rod and I'm stoked!!!! I ordered this rod on 12/31/08 and it got here right away. This rod is super light and a thing of beauty. I ordered the 6'9 mh all purpose rod for pretty much my all around go to rod. It says its good for senkos, spinners, ...... u know. I was wondering if it would be good to throw small to medium cranks with this rod too or do I need a softer rod for that.

He's right, you need to buy a couple more just to make sure you have the perfect crankin' stick! Ha Ha
Glad you loved your first Kistler!

I have the Magnesium - MgCBCGGM70 and it is a great rod for fishing crankbaits but this is not the only rod for this application. I also have the He70MC that I use for my cranking. To tell you the truth, there are many Kistler rods out there set up for cranking, just have to give them all a try . Good Fishing.

That 6'9" rod will totally rock with 1/2oz. crankbaits, like the DT Fat Sure Set, Red Eye Shads, and Rat-L-Traps.
I know the rod can handle them, so the reel is the key factor. I wouldn't go much lighter than 1/2 oz. for crankbaits on a baitcaster setup anyway, but that's just me.
