I've been looking for a new spinnerbait rod. I plan on throwing baits that range from 3/8 to 3/4 ounces. Does anyone here have any suggestions? I'd like to get some good feedback on a Kistler, I've been really close to buying one but need a little more info.
Thanks

DP,
Welcome to the forum! ... boy, you're going to get a lot of different opinions here! lol ... my favorite Helium stick for spinnerbaits is the He69APC. It has a light, sensitive tip that loads wonderfully during the cast, has a soft enough action during the hookset so that you don't pull the bait out of the fish's mouth, and has plenty of backbone to pull a fish out of heavy cover once the fish is hooked.
I throw mostly 1/2oz spinnerbaits with and without trailers. Get ready though, cuz like the add for Pringles, once you "pop" for one Helium... you can't stop

Welcome to Kistler's forums D3P.
I would 'echo' what Cal said . I prefer the HE70MC rods for my spinnerbaits(1/4-1/2 oz) but it's probably too 'light' for the heavier s/b's you mentioned.

DP, all of the above are good choices. I use the HE66MHC for all of my blade work. From 1/4oz. buzzbaits up to 1/2oz. tandem blades with trailers. Like D said your gonna get a lot of different models on this question.

For the lighter stuff (up to 1/2 oz), I use my He63APC and He69APC. For a 3/4 oz (like a Ledgebuster), I use the He70MHC.

I realize this is a Helium forum and I am going against the grain of many here.
My personal choice for a spinnerbait rod is the Kistler Graphite Plus rod in the 6'6" MH. It has a good tip for casting the blade and plenty of backbone to get the fish in the boat. Throwing a blade is a horizontal presentation and why would you need the sensitivity of a Helium for it? IMHO you don't...

Larry,
Although I agree a Helium may not be necessary, I do believe sensitivity is always important. Even when fishing a spinnerbait you may need to feel the weeds, limbs or perhaps just to feel the blade stop turning indicating a possible bite. I do use the KSBS66 for spinnerbaiting (1/4 to 3/8 oz.) and fortunatly, being IM7 it is sensitive enough for these tasks.

I would say an HE70MHC or an HE69APC. Was pitching with a pair of HE70MHC's in 04, but they haved been bumped to my long distance spinnerbait rods/worm/jig rods, and 2 new HE69APC's will become my pitching rods. Just picked up another HE70MC to match with one I already have! I'ts obvious that I believe in buying things in pairs when I like something! Just can't seem to make my wife a believer in this concept! hehehe! Jeff Bosela
