This is my third season fishing club tournaments. Since I don't own a boat, I've learned a lot fishing from the back of the boat. One such lesson I've learned is it's not easy winning a tournament from the backseat. With our club set up where boaters and non-boaters are all competing against each other, the odds are greatly stacked against the non-boaters when it comes to the Angler Of The Year race.

This has been a great season for me. Not only in competitive fishing, but when I'm out fishing for fun as well. I just want to take the time to give a BIG "Thank You" to Kistler Rods for making such a great product. A product which not only allowed me to get threeTop 5 finishes and two 1st place finishes, but also kept me close in the Angler Of The Year race. All from the back of the boat! Going into the last tournament of the season, I was 3rd in the point standings. With only 40 points separating me from the top of the board, I knew I had to do well in the last tournament to take the title. Of course, mother nature and lake management had to throw in a couple obstacles. A storm had rolled through the area earlier in the week, then lake management decided to bluestone (spraying copper sulfate for weed control for those that don't know) the lake just a couple days prior to the tournament. As expected the bite was extremely tough come the day of the tournament. Thanks to the extreme sensitivity of my Kistler Helium 2 He2M69S rod, it allowed me to detect the most subtle bites. With the other two contenders in the race stumbling in the event and my fourth place finish, it propelled me from 3rd in the standings to the top of the board and my first Angler Of the Year title. I credit my Kistler Heliums for my success not only throughout the entire '08 season, but season after season since I bought my first Helium six years ago. Again, thank you Kistler rods and keep up the excellent work.

Congratulations.... I use the He2M69S for drop shotting, and I love it. What technique were you using it for?

Congratulations. On your angler of the year award. I know my He2's helped me win angler of the year last year.

Thanks for the comments. Lance, I mainly use my He2M69S for dropshotting. Funny you should mention this rod, as this is the primary rod I credit my AOY award. The He2M70S I use for shakey heads is a close second.
