Hello everyone,
In the last couple of months, I switched to all kistler rods. I now own 6 Magnesium TS and 6 Helium2 LTX. I am very impressed with the sensitivity of kistler rods and I've tried many top end rods.
I have a question about the chatterbait rod, I hear the blank is not exposed through the reel seat. Is it true ? Thanks

Welcome aboard. Great to have you involved in our forum. Thank you for all of your support and good luck fishing this fall.

The Chatterbait rod does not have an exposed reel seat however, we can make it with the exposed seat if you request. Just call Ryan here at the office.

Thanks again,

Blister72

I can tell you that the Mg Chatterbait rod is my favorite for anything from topwater frogs, to bottom bouncing jigs.

I too was puzzled by the lack of the blank through reel seat at first, but I can still feel many nibbles on my slow moving jigs, just keep a finger on the blank, in front of your reel or on the line itself.

It could be the graphite, or the lack of cork, but either way...you'll feel the bites to set the hook. I use P-line Halo on mine, which transmits a lot of bottom structure as well.

On reaction bites, as with cranks and Chatterbaits, when they hit hard, you won't really worry about the blank through, you just want to land that baby. Laughing

Welcome to the Kistler Family.
I own 2 of these rods and I can tell you that it really dosen't matter about the blank exposed. I own about 15 Kistler rods and this is one of my most favorite of them all. As Blister72 said, when the fish knocks the fool out of it, you just set back and bring him to the boat. I use this rod for my chatterbait and also use it for a shallow running crankbait and it works like a charm. The lightness and the sensitivity of this rod will take the place for the blank not being exposed. You are now fishing with a great product. Very Happy

Reason why I asked is because a friend of mine has one with the blank not exposed and it's a sweet rod with a nice MH action. I bought a new one online and what I got is one with the blank exposed but the action was more like Heavy, too stiff, but it does say Chatterbait swimm jig on it and it's rated the same as my friend's rod. I think it's an early production and they changed it since. The one I got feels more like their mag worm carolina rig rod which I already have 2 of.
