Looking to purchase Dock Skipping Rod

Trying to determine the best buy here for a Dock Skipping Rod. I currently makeshift skip with a 7'ft spinning rod and looking to go shorter.

The 3 rods I am looking at are:

1. 6'3 dock skipping special handle 6in = $120 with discount
2. 6'3 Magnesium Dock Special handle 7in = $200 no discount
3. 6'6 All purpose MH Mag handle 9in = $160 with discount

All 3 of these rods are MH with a fast tip and have the same specs other than handle length

My question is, what is the difference between rods 1 and 3? Just 3 inches of handle? I can't justify $80 more for rod #2

I have a couple all purpose rods, I feel like this one would be for docks only

I was trying to determine the real difference between 1 and 3. It seems even if the handle was 3 inches longer that you would still be slinging the same length rod as hand placement would be in the same spot

does that make sense?

I believe the 6'3" dock skipping special is the Graphite Plus series, the 6'6" mag is a Magnesium TS. For $40 more you would be getting a lighter, more sensitive rod. The length from reel seat to tip would be similar in each but the Mag TS would have more handle, which I personally prefer for extra leverage.

Would the He63MHS (Helium LTA MH/ XF taper) be superior to all?

I wonder how this XF taper would affect skipping

I have two Mag rods and a LTA in 6'6" and 6'9" spinning. I have no trouble in skipping lures with either of these rods. I guess my first question to you is are you thowing baitcaster or spinning. Skipping lures with a baitcaster is difficult to say the least. I use my 6'6" Mag all purpose spining rod when skipping. The grahpite Plus rods are good, but for a little more I would invest in the Mag series. These rods are lighter than air, won't tire you out, have an extrememly fast tip, and I love the split grip as I believe it gives more feel. If you have never fished a Mag series rod, once you do you will wonder why it took you so long.

You can't go wrong with either the He2 or Mag series rods you mentioned.
