I was thinking about purchasing this rod for "SLOP" froggin, does this rod have the power I'm looking for? I'm thinking this rod will have the light tip and the power. Or maybe I should get the He711TXHC, but I'm thinking this rod won't have a light enough tip for the frogs. Which would be the better rod for a "SLOP" specific rod. I have 2 other light frog rods. Thanks in advance.

If you are fishing slop go with the He711TXHC the He711THC is a little to light in my book. On a side note you might want to think about the HE70XHC. I have used this rod for frogging the Cal Delta for the last three years and have caught and controlled fish up to nine pounds on this rod. It also has the tip for walking a frog over open water. I too wouldn't go with the 711 length because it might over work you after a long day. The MGADFPSH78T is a really nice froggin stick because of the fast tip and light weight overall feel of the rod.
Or you might think about the KFGS73 which is a sweet stick!

Don't overlook the MgJTH70, this rod is my favorite for frogs in the slop. I have never had a problem controlling a fish of any size with this rod and as far as power goes..well you can look in the fishing story thread for the Red River Adventure....i landed a gator with it and never had a problem(there is a picture for proof)...by the way setting a hook on a gator is not recomended...unless you just want to loose your frog....getting it off the hook is not an option. lol Take care and hope this helps.

If you plan on using the rod for sloppin exclusively why not use a rod intended for that purpose. I use the frog & slop special and it is perfect. Casts great & plenty of backbone. The mag jig & toad rod would also be a good choice.

I used to use the MGADFPS78T for froggin my self, it was great for lighter weight..........I use the LTX He 2 Heavy 7'11 now, it seems more balanced and thus has the sensation of feeling lighter and has much more back bone in my opinion........I throw this thing all day long with minimal fatigue. I think I own or have owned all the Kistler frog rods with shorter lengths and they are all great, but the He2 is the one I catch the most on now.
