HE76XHC action and power? UPDATED. Wrong Choice unfortunatly

long story short..I chose this rod as a replacement for a broken he69apc. I've been in the market for a stouter jig rod and they had this rod in stock. so I hapilly took it as a replacement. I've searched and searched and have found very little info on this stick. can you describe the action, power, etc? how's the tip feel? is the tip light enough where I can drop below a 1/2 ounce and still throw different baits? also billy kistler described it as maybe a 4 to 5 power. im trying to get a general idea of the characteristics of the rod. I love my loomis glx rods, but also routinely used my lta. I grew to love it just as much. this rod will be paired with either my daiwa steez or my shimano calais dc reel (not sure which). anyway, any input is appreciated. thank you, Don

Sounds like you are getting exactly what you were wanting in a "stouter jig rod".

The power is closer to a 5 and the action is a stiff fast. You can flip most any heavy jig and even a 1/4 ounce jig if you are a seasoned flipper.

Let us know what you think after trying it out on a few BIG fish.

i think this rod is comparable to a st croix premier flippin' stick, but i lot lighter in weight and without such a big handle. this is the rod i really like for flipping deep thick weeds. i dont, however, like it for fishing in less than 4 feet, because it is so stiff that i tend to throw slack in the line when i set the hook on a fish and pull him a little bit.

If you are looking for a flipping or pitching rod for heavy cover the he76xhc is the perfect rod. I have 2 and use them for 1/4 to 1 oz jigs, and creature baits with 1/4 -1/2 oz sinkers. Now if you are looking for more of a casting rod I would go with the he76hc or he70hc.

Recieved the new rod, very impressed with the new lta's. construction is top notch..

However...The XHC is just too much rod (stiff i mean) for my application.
Billy Kistler was extremely helpful on the phone when he offered me the choice of waiting until the new 69APC's ( - - blocked - - ) in or recieve another model..
I should have asked about upgrading and seeing if they had a Helium 2 LTX 69 or 7' MH in stock instead. Owell i guess.. we live and learn.

On a side note.. I read and post on a few different forums and I must say. the customer service i recieved from Kistler was top notch!..
