I just ordered the MgSWMH70 and was wondering what reel, for 80 dollars or less, you would prefer for this rod. I lookin to use the rod for flukes, texas rigged worms, senkos, and maybe some spinnerbaits. I was lookin at the 5501 C3 from Abu Garcia.

Thank You, Kelly P.

That is a great rod. Boy a $80 dollar reel for the rod is tough. I would recommend a revo, but they are over $80. Maybe you could check Ebay out, and see what kind of deals on reels there is right now. I have bought a few reels off Ebay before and saved a few bucks.

I picked up the Abu Garcia Black Max combo at Wally World for less than that, and the reel is pretty tight. It works great for flippin' sweet beavers, Texas rigged plastics, has 5 bearings, good drag, and is 6.2:1 for the most versatile of presentations.

I can't say the brakes work better than my Team Daiwa reels, but the tension control knob does the trick, and if I've had any back lashes, it was because I cast too hard/ far, while leaving it set for flippin'.

If you like Abu, I think you'd be pleased with the Black Max in black, but they have a couple others in the series.

It seems a good quality reel for $80.00 is hard to come by these days, but they are out there.

I fish mainly Revo's and shimanos. I would check tacklewarehouse.com. I think I just saw a closeout sale on Shimano Citica's for about $89.00. It is a quality reel for the money....and definately worth the extra ten bucks. I also bought a Bass Pro Shops "Pro Qualifier" reel as a backup. I was really impressed with how smooth the reel casts/retrieves and have had no mechanical problems. I believed I got the reel on sale for about $75.00. Happy shopping....definately take your time and look around. There are good reels out there for that amount.

Thank you guys for replying. I'll take a look at tacklewarehouse. But I think I might just get the C3.

I checked it out on Cabela's website, but I tend to prefer the low-profile batcasters, as apposed to the "round" ones.

That silver body should look pretty sweet on you new Mg rod. Look good, fish good. Laughing It's all about confidence, afterall. Laughing

Revos aren't so expensive if you talk to the right people. I have as good a deal as you can get and have all styles from S to Skeet Reese and the newest of the new the Winch. Call me before you buy and I might surprise you and ship the same day too.

Taco, can you send me your price for a Premier and the new Wench?

Are your reels NIB?

Thanks!

Mike
