i'm planning on buying my first kistler rod sometime around my birthday which will be in november. i have been looking at 2 rods, the graphite plus texas rig worm 6'6" MH or the graphite plus senko special 6'10" MH for all my soft plastics (weight less senkos, texas rigs from 3/16 to 1/2 10in worms and tubes, brush hawgs, trick worms, lizards, etc) so my question is which one would be better suited? and i do mean a casting rod.

BassBoy 21 -

Glad to hear you are going to get your first Kistler rod. I can assure you it won't be your last. Both rods you mentioned are great. My personal preference is the Senko Rod. The extra length will help you cast the bait further and also help pick the line up faster when setting the hook.

I don't know what your price range is, but I would strongly suggest that you atleast take a look at the Magnesium TS 7' Senko Special. Although slightly more, it is a lighter weight rod. Both are still very sensative thought.

Happy shopping...you won't be disappointed either way.

I personally love the 6'6" length for all around use, in spinning rods and baitcasting rods. It it easier to work with on a boat, less chance of bumping the tip on the ceiling, or ceiling fans, getting it in and out of the house, and throwing TONS of various baits.

I have the Mg "chatterbait" rod, which is 6'10" MH, and it seems to have a limited use of lures that I can whip around when casting, which also seems to generate a few more backlashes than the 6'6" lengths.

It's your money and your call, but I thought I'd offer up my honest input on best overall length for your investment.

Welcome to the Kistler fan club, and agreed, it won't be your "last". One is just never enough. Laughing

Blister72 is so right. Once you start fishing with a Kistler rod, there is no turning back, even if you could turn back, you will not want to. I have been fishing with Kistler rods now for about 5 years and I can tell you from experience, there is no better rod out there on the market. The sensitivity in these rods are just so awesome, it's almost like you are cheating. I guess my most favorite rod out of all my Kistlers would be the MgTWJBM68.....I do allot of top water fishing and this rod is so smooth and so light. I will even fish a crankbait with this rod. But in all honesty, you will be very well pleased with your Kistler rod, I promise. Like Blister72 said, one Kistler rod will never be enough.
Good Luck and Good Fishing. Smile

thanks yall, i also have been considering getting this, Spinner Bait Special 6' 6" Medium Heavy Fishing Rod, for all my plastics, jigs, lipless cranks, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits especially since it was a larger range lure weight rating so i can throw 1/8oz t rigs and 3/8oz or even 1/2oz jigs and spinnerbaits or will i still be able to throw a 1/8oz t rig with the t rig special? and would the action work for all the things i mentioned? do yall think i should wait and get something like the new carbon steel rods for $100 instead of $150? when will the new line of rods come out? i have noticed that all the prices shot up so it otta be soon right?

Already shopping for other Kistler rods, I am so proud of you, and I know Trey and the crew appreciate it too.

From all I have heard it is going to take 60-120 days to get the new rods ready for the public. And I have to say it is going to seem like forever waiting for the new ones for me.
