6/12/08 9:22pm Best Helium LTA for Inshore Fishing
I'm looking to get some new rods and the Helium LTA's really look like the rod for me. I do 90% of my fishing in southwest Louisiana looking for specks and reds. I tend to fish 12+ hours a day and want the lightest rod I can get. What would be the best one for 1/4 jigs and mid-size top water.

I live just south of Baton Rouge, and do alot of salt water fishing for specs in Grande Isle, or Venice. I use several different LTAs' for salt water. For what you are looking to do with it. I would either try the HE66MC, or the He70MC if you want a 7' rod. With the medium action the lure does not rip the soft mouth of the trout as bad as a heavier action. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would go with the LTA 70M. Which is the 7'0" medium action rod. It should give you the best of casting distance as well as having enough backbone to get the to the shore. If you use a spinning reel, I would recommend the LTA 7'0" medium also in the spinning model. The medium-light's are just a little bit too limber for what I think you would be looking for. Good luck, Brad
