HEeeeeelp!
I have a pair of Scorpion Mg's and want to match 'em up with He LTA rods.
Mostly these will be used for light plastic baits - lizards, grubs & baby brush hogs - on 12 to 15 lb test. Quarter ounce jigs, crankbaits, spinnerbaits etc occasionally. Draggin' 'em thru light grass, over laydowns and a few rocky points.
Would a 6.5' MH or 6-9 APC balance in the hand with these Mg reels?
I'm a realist not a perfectionist. Not looking for a buggy whip nor a cue stick.

A lot of guys like and use the HE69APC but I've not tried one yet. I do prefer and own three of the HE70MCs and I know that that rod would be perfect for what you listed as your needs. It will "balance" well with a Scorpion and cast those baits like none other rod I've tried.

I'm one of those guys, lol  Dan is right, the HE69APC should match up great with the Scorpion MG. UnfortunateIy, I have never held the Scorpion MG.
That being said, I have both the 70MC and the 69APC, both with standard Scorpions on them and use them for the plastic fishing techniques you refer to. On blades, I use a HE66MH and the HE76HC for all my jiggin and froggin. The 70MC I prefer for weightless anything...Senko, Horny Toad, Sweet Beaver, etc.. The 69APC is my drop shot, "Bubba" shot rig, at all times tied and at the ready with a Baby Brush hog.

My choice would be one of the He66MC and one of the He66MHC models. Both will perform well with the baits and line your mentioned. The shorter rods will be a delight to fish with all day and balance perfectly.
If you want longer rods, then go with the 69 or 7 footers in the same power. The balance will still be quite good. Either way, you will be happy with your choices as long as you feel confident in your decision.
I prefer shorter rods for fishing small lakes and ponds from the bank and longer rods when fishing big lakes from the boat while fishing tournaments because of the extra leverage they offer.
The opinions from the other guys are very true as well.

Lightninrod and Ezcue - Thanks for the advise. I really like these Mg frame reels, but need a lighter rod to take full advantage.
Trey - thanks for your reply. I guess I could have called and discussed this with you. I'm impressed that the Owner would take the time to answer a thread. Angler's Paradise is a Kistler stocking dealer. I'll make the trip and give the models you recommended a shake n' bend test. Bill's a little hard headed, he insists on payment in full before a test drive.

Kicker, I fish the Scorpions exclusively on my Heliums. Currently I have 6 Scorpion/Helium Set ups ranging from ML to MH. The MG is slightly lighter in weight than the standard Japanese Scorpion 1001's that I use, I want to say 6.2ounces. It will be a perfect match with almost all of the rods in the 6-6 to 7ft range.

Thanks EW - I enjoyied your shoot out article. I share many of your tackle experiences. We both love jigs and tubes but I tend to fish heavier because of weeds, weeds and more weeds as the season peaks.
I've been sittin' on this fence for awhile now. My butt is sore. I hope to handle a few LTA's shortly. Hopefully before splinters set in.
