I was wanting to get some information on this rod. I am a new member to this forum and this is my first post. I really don't know how to put this without hurting another name but I will ask. I have 3 of the setyr tactical series rods and I love them they are tough, sensitive and somewhat lightweight. I have two of the 6'10" telescopic flippin and pitchin rods one medium heavy and one heavy both with mod-fast tips, and I just recently bought a 7'6" Heavy Action telescopic flippin and pitchin rod. Now don't get me wrong I love these rods like I said they are tough and sensitive but some rods are lighter that I have felt in my days. My dad has a 7' heavy gloomis imx and it is a lot lighter than one of the three but he has also broke it twice and had to have it replaced so they are out of the question to buy. The magnesium rods happen to be right in my price range. I was wondering if anyone else has ever felt a setyr rod and could compare them to a kistler magnesium cause I dont' know anyone that sells them or anyone that owns one and it's really hard for me to spend the money on a rod and not know what it feels like. For the first rod I was lookin at the 7'8" magnesium telescopic all day flippin stick I have heard a lot of great things about these rods but no one I know personally. Just how light, tough, and sensitive are these rods really???? Sorry for the long FIRST post lol. I really hope someone can help me on this cause I'm very interested in some of these rods and their specifications. Thank you very much.

Hey.....thats a great question.

I am not familiar with the other brand you mentioned, so what I would recommend is contact Kistler customer service for specs that you are interested in. I have purchased several different models of Kistler's, before I did so, I compared them to all the other brands at BPS and Gander Mtn, Kistler was always the lightest........next, I have fished all the different versions to determine which I liked the best and they are incredibly sensative and super strong. I believe just about any rod can break, but Kistler has an incredible warranty. If you are nervous about buying one retail, sometimes you can find them on ebay or other sites discounted. Thats where I usually sell the mine. The only thing is they don't have the warranty then, so your better off buying one new. I have used the Mg flippin stick all day long and it is a dream to fish with. It is balanced very well for little to no fatigue. Worst case scenario, if you buy one and don't like it and if the store won't take it back, put it up for sale online and you sell it for near what you paid as they don't lose their value. Knowing Kistler, they would even probably try to satisfy you some way if you paid retail for the rod...........I can almost promise you will not be disappointed and will switch for life.............

Blessings

Illinois,

I am very familiar with the Setyr brand of rods, and they are a good brand, but not in the same class as Kistler. This summer I helped one of Setyr's pro staff members that fishes both BASS and FLWTours' (whose name I am sworn to secrecy) get his hands on a couple of Kistlers, on the down low. He was sold on the light weight of the rods and the sensitivity. He wanted the Helium version, but you will not be dissapointed with the rod you are considering in comparison to your Setyrs'!!!

good fishin'.

I have the all day 7'8" flippin stick (Magnesium) and I love it. I plan to buy some more. It not only works well as a Flippin stick but it also wroked well last week for me in Alabama on Lake Guntersville fishing rats and frogs on braided line in heavy grass. I had an 8lb class fish on and the rod handled it very well coming out of the grass. My line actually broke (had to have had a bad place in it...it was 50lb braid). I was impressed with how quickly I was able to leverage the fish out of the grass with my Flippin Stick. The length of the rod and its lighweight allowed me to cast the frog and rat a LONGGGG way. I literally fished it all day for 4 days and my brother and I finished second place in the Bass Cat owners tournament and ALL fish were caught on Kistler Rods. I HIGHLY recommend them!

I really am enjoying my new arsenal since I made the switch back in April!!!!
